Melton's has been in the AA Restaurant Guide since we first opened

Unclothed tables, simple settings and friendly service contribute to the relaxing and friendly atmosphere. Simple dishes are carefully prepared and cooked in the modern British style with french and italian influences. Flavour here is everything.

2007

The Which? Good Food Guide gives us a rating of 5 and says

	The cooking philosophy mobilises influences from all over the world but in a way that seems determined to avoid preciousness.... main courses that included a 'sweet, soft, succulent' piece of roast sirloin with horse-radish butter, Yorkshire kale, purple-sprouting broccoli and a full-on red wine reduction.

	A consistently good restaurant tucked-away in an unprepossessing corner, just outside the city walls, very fair wine pricing adds to its attractions as a "gastronomic" destination

	There is an honesty and passion about the approach of Chefs...that seeks the best local and seasonal ingredients and cooks them sensitively and without rush to bring out all their flavours....Flavours are vivid, textures just right, presentation alluring but not fussy. The setting may be simple, but this is cooking of a high standard.

	Here the setting may seem to be that of one of any number of....restaurants but that is merely the impression you have before you taste the food. There is real gastronomic interest on the menu at Meltons, where absolutely everything is cooked to order.
